At Northern Territory Veterinary Services, we are able to provide online consultations to clients in remote areas throughout the Northern Territory. Additionally during the COVID-19 outbreak, we are able to offer this service for clients who are not able to travel, are unwell or are having to self-isolate.
This innovation allows clients in these special circumstances, in remote towns, communities and stations, the ability to seek veterinary care 24/7 for their animals that previously was not available.
Through our on-line portal services, clients are able to have a video link up with one of our team of highly skilled veterinarians. You can either use your computer or a smart phone / tablet app to access this service. Our veterinarians are then able to visually examine your animal and can either advise on an appropriate treatment plan, if a veterinarian needs to attend to your animal, or advise if the animal needs to be brought to one of our services.
How Much Does it Cost & How Do I Pay?
For Video Consultations, costs start at $78.50 (GST inclusive) for a standard video consultation and $165.60 (GST inclusive) for after hours consultations. Up front payment by PayPal or Credit card is required, or proof of direct deposit is accepted.
What are the Hours for Standard Consultations?
The hours of standard consultations are 8.00am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday, and 9am to 12pm, Saturdays. Out of these hours, after hours rates will apply
Do I need to book a consultation?
With the exception of emergencies, video linkups will need to be booked in advance to ensure our veterinarian can dedicate their full attention to your beloved animal.
What do I need to set up for the consult?
If you need a phone consult, you will just need a phone line.

Can these services be used for large animals as well as small?
Yes. These services can be used for dogs, cats, horses, cattle, goats or any other animal that you may have.
I live in a town where there is a vet. Can I still use these services?
Previously, no. However during COVID-19 pandemic, we are able to extend these services to all clients in need.
Generally we have advised that remote consultation services are only available to members of the public where there is no veterinary services, or where there is no veterinarian available due to clinic closures or absence of after-hours services. However, with the need for social distancing and self isolation, there is need for online consultation services during outbreaks.
